Our campsite for the night is at the feet of the most majestics mountains of this area such as Salkantay (6264m) and Humantay (5217m). The campsite is called Salkantaypampa and it is situated at 3900meters.
2nd Day
This morning we will ascend to the highest and toughest part of this trek, in the snow over the Salkantay-pass (5200m). This pass is a wonderful spot for sightseeing because it is surrounded by majestic snow-peaks. After the pass we will be hiking down until the Sisay pampa (3700m) where we will have our campsite.
3rd Day
We will have to hike down by Incan canals and original paths in order to enter Huayllabamba (3000m). There we will have our connection over the Inca trail to our campsite.
4th Day
In the morning we will hike up to the pass of Warmiwañusca (4200meters) at a gentle pace. After a short rest on the Warmiwañusca-pass we will continue our trek downwards and camp at Pacaymayu (3500m).
5th Day
A lot of archeological sites we will come upon during today trek such as Runkuraqay (3800m), Runkuraqay-pass (3900meters), Sayacmarca (3600m), Phuyupatamarca (3580m) and finally the magnificent ruins of Wiñayhuayna (2650m) just next to our campsite.
6th Day
We will leave very early in the morning with our torch-lights to hike the last couple of hours that separate us from Inca-capital of Machu Picchu (2400m). We will pass through the Inti Punku (2730 meters) where, by clear weather, we will have the breathtaking sight of a sunrise over Machu Picchu. A few moments later we will enter this untouched Inca-sanctuary to have a guided tour with a professional guide. After this tour that will last for two hours you will have plenty of time to wonder around the ruins by yourself. We will all meet afterwards to go down to Aguas Calientes (2050m) where we will take our train back to Cusco.
