|Passengers are picked up at their hotels very early in order to travel by train to Aguas Calientes town (2,040 meters/6,692 ft above sea level). From there,a guide will take passengers on a bus tour heading for the wonderful Machu Picchu citadel (2,400 meters/ 7,874 ft above sea level).|
The visit to the Sanctuary will take around 3 hours and visitors will walk around the citadel and its palaces and temples,houses and storehouses,and buildings intended for religious ceremonies,such as the luxurious and amazing carved-stone mausoleums. Visitors will have a chance to see the system of streets,paths and stairs connecting buildings,squares and platforms making up the urban sector.
Later,there will be a break to take photos and walk around the citadel until 3:55 p.m.,when the train leaves from Aguas Calientes to Cusco (3,350 meters/ 10,990 ft above sea level),arriving at around 8:20 p.m.
