Villa La Angostura is a mountain village located
on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. It was named after the isthmus of
the Quetrihue peninsula.
Only 80 Km away from Bariloche,
it is the closest city to the Chilean border line (33 Km) and it also represents
- together with San Martin
de los Andes - the access point to the Circuito
de los Siete Lagos (Trail of the Seven Lakes).
Its streets are open, with plenty
of trees and surrounded by wooden construction. The lake Nahuel Huapi
and the neighboring hills provide a relaxing atmosphere that charms even the
most experienced travelers. Deep forests of myrtle and other native trees complement
the typical flowerbeds of sorbus at the village. For this reason it is called
Jardín de Patagonia (Garden of the Patagonia).
The village's development has been oriented to high level tourism, with
exclusive hotels and hostels,
Magnificent summer houses are opened mainly during the ski and summer season.
Its lodging capacity
is about 3000 beds, and some of the best international hotels
and restaurantes are now open in town. The construction of two and three
star cottages for rental
has increased during the last five years, improving the offerings for lower
budget tourists.
Transportation within the
area is limited between April and September, with only buses to Bariloche
and Neuquén.
The Tourism Authority of Villa la Angostura has offices in the villa's
main access. In there, you will find information regarding accommodations,
events, tours and attractions.
Although they provide reference
prices, these generally vary depending on the season. Lodging
prices are between US$40 and US$150 daily per person and meals in restaurants
are between US$10 and US$25 per person.
