Tierra del Fuego National Park
We were not previously informed, and were very surprised that we had to pay 50 pesos each for the entrance into the national park. We felt this should have been included in the cost of the tour(which,after all, WAS the national park).

Tierra del Fuego National Park
We did not like waiting an hour for the people who went on the train. There should have been two separate tours--one for the park and train and one just for the park. However, our guide was very good at trying to fill the hour of waiting.

DESCRIPTION:

The tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park starts at the hotel, where passengers are picked up and then taken by bus to the Southern Fuegian Railway Station. There, visitors may choose to take the “End of the World Train” tour.

Tierra del Fuego National Park starts 11 km (7 mi.) away from the city of Ushuaia. It was created in 1960, extending over an area of 63,000 hectares (155,673 acres), and it is located in the eco-regions of the Patagonian Forest and the High Andes, characterized by a temperate to cold and damp climate, with winter snows and rainfalls, and a rough and steep mountain landscape with glacial valleys.

In this Park, visitors can admire its lenga beech, ñire, and cherry tree forests, its rivers, lakes, and peat bogs, the views of the channel and the various-length paths offering a chance to have a first-hand contact with the southernmost nature.

The tour travels through Pipo River Valley, until reaching Ensenada Bay, where Redonda and Estorbo Islands can be seen, and on the opposite margin of the Beagle Channel the view of the Snowy Mountains of the Sampaio Range (Chile) can also be enjoyed. After reaching Roca Lake, visitors start a trek skirting the Lake and Lapataia River. Here, it is possible to see Mount Cóndor, natural border with Chile.

From here, the bus heads towards Lapataia Bay, on the opposite end of the Park, to enjoy a view of the Green Lake and Black Lake. The tour ends with a visit to Dique de los Castores (Beavers’ Dike), where visitors can see the dike building system used by this species on the stream.
